Meet Kayla

Kayla grew up in a family business spanning over 60 years and multiple generations, where she learned the value of teamwork, effective communication, and exceptional customer service. Now, as the Athletic Director at the Pickleball Zone, she brings her wealth of experience and training skills to the role.

Kayla serves as a USA Pickleball Ambassador, Certified PPR Coach, Level 1 Referee, AAU Coach, and DUPR Coach. Competing in numerous tournaments and leagues, she is passionate about teaching. A pickleball instructor since 2021, Kayla is known for her patience and her fun, engaging, and practical instruction that helps players improve. Her attention to detail ensures members enjoy consistent and memorable experiences at the club, and she looks forward to sharing her love for the game.

Meet Victoria

Victoria Mikuta holds a degree in Exercise Science from the University of Houston and has been coaching young athletes (ages 5-18) for the past six years.

Introduced to pickleball by her parents, she quickly fell in love with the game and has been playing for over two years. In 2024, Victoria became a certified PPR Level 1 Coach and now competes in 4.0+ tournaments throughout Texas. She is passionate about sharing the excitement of pickleball and helping others discover their love for the sport.

Meet Connor

Connor Bodenshot is a 4.0+ pickleball player with over three years of teaching experience. His love for the game has evolved into a passion for coaching, helping players of all levels develop their skills. Connor specializes in teaching both the essential fundamentals and advanced strategies that players strive for. As an associate coach, he is currently pursuing his PPR certification to further enhance his expertise and continue growing in the sport.

Meet Sean

With a background in tennis, racquetball, and ping-pong throughout high school and college, Sean Dauterive found pickleball to be a natural fit when he began playing in the winter of 2021. A certified PPR coach, Sean specializes in coaching beginner and improver-level players. His passion for pickleball drives him to help others get involved, learn, and enhance their skills. Having played both recreationally and competitively, he strives to provide a positive, supportive environment where players can improve, enjoy the sport, and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Sean’s vision is to offer the highest level of professionalism, character, and integrity to the PBZ community.

Meet Robin

Robin Watts has been passionate about racket sports since he was a kid, starting with ping pong, tennis and racquetball before discovering pickleball in 2019. He quickly fell in love with the game and sought out opportunities to play and grow the sport.

Well known in the Kingwood pickleball community for his dedication and willingness to help others, Robin has taught pickleball to hundreds of senior adults through a successful program he built at a local college. His coaching style focuses on smart play strategies, which help students to compete successfully against players who may be more athletic or experienced.

Meet Anthony

Anthony Bright is a certified RSPA Elite Pickleball and Tennis professional with over 15 years of teaching experience. His passion for pickleball began more than four years ago when he fell in love with the game. Anthony specializes in helping players of all skill levels reach their full potential, combining his extensive expertise in both tennis and pickleball. He is currently in the process of obtaining his PPR certification, further enhancing his coaching qualifications.

Intro to Pickleball

If you’re new to pickleball and looking for a way to get started, an “Intro” class is the perfect opportunity for you. During the session, you will learn the fundamental rules and scoring of the game, along with essential skills and strategies that will set you up for success. 

Beginner Level

Designed for complete beginners and players who’ve hopped on the court a few times but lack confidence. You will learn fundamental skills, stroke mechanics, serve and return execution and how to approach the non-volley zone (aka “kitchen”).

Intermediate Level

Elevate your pickleball game to new heights! Our instructors are here to help you achieve your goals and compete at a higher level. This class focuses on all aspects of the game, including strategic planning, shot precision, footwork, and mental toughness.

Advanced Pickleball

Aadvanced level for those who are well-versed in the sport, providing an environment where players can reach the pinnacle of their abilities. At The PBZ, we understand that advanced players require more than just basic drills; they need nuanced instruction and strategic insights to fine-tune their overall game.

Rules Refresher

When it comes to pickleball basics, there are a handful of rules to keep in mind when you’re starting out.

The rules aren’t hard and it can as chill or competitive as you want it to be, making it perfect for casual play or more serious matches. Plus, since it’s a social game, it’s a great way to meet new people and make friends. But be warned! Pickleball can be addictive!
